What to Expect
We are excited to have you join us for a worship experience. Our services are reverent, yet casual.
We understand visiting a new church can be stressful. We have all been where you are right now. We strive to make our worship experiences comfortable for members and guests alike. We believe you will find our church to be a blessing, even the very first time you visit.
We want to do our part to minimize any anxiety you may have as you walk through our doors. We promise:
- You will not be embarrassed by not knowing what to do and where to go. We have worked hard to provide directional signs to help as you enter. However, if you need additional help, please don’t hesitate to ask for assistance. Many who regularly worship here wear name tags, so you can feel free to walk up to anyone you see, and they will be happy to assist you.
- You will not be asked to do anything embarrassing. We will not ask you to stand and introduce yourself in the service. We will not ask you wear a big flower or a special pin that targets you as a guest. We simply appreciate you honoring us with your presence. We will give you plenty of space to enjoy your time with us.
- You will not be shaken down for money. We don’t apologize for collecting an offering, as our financial gifts are an expression of our gratitude and dependence upon God. However, you are not expected to participate in the offering. You will not be asked to pay for the service, the coffee, or the friends you make during your visit.
- We will do our best to offer a worship service that allows you to experience the power of God’s grace and his presence in our midst.
- We will do our best to give you a message from God’s Word that fills you with hope and direction for a better week.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's a service like?
Our worship is intimate and meaningful. Songs are both contemporary and updated traditional. “Our service springs from a confessional Lutheran liturgy. Our language is up-to-date and accessible. We begin each service with singing, invoking the presence of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, listening to the Word and a weekly Gospel message, end the service with Holy Communion and enter back into the world with praise in our hearts.”
What's the music like?
Worship is a spiritual experience, drawing each individual into a deeper connection with Jesus Christ. We choose songs which both support our foundational beliefs, but also elevate our souls. Stylistically, we are an acoustic contemporary band, singing current songs and also modern variations of hymns in order to lead heartfelt and authentic worship.
How do people dress?
We want you to be comfortable, so come as you are. Dress tends to be modest and casual. Depending on the weather, people wear jeans, shorts, sandals, etc.
Can I take communion?
During communion, we believe that we receive, in, with, and under the bread and wine, the true body and blood of Christ shed on the cross. The same Jesus Christ, who is now risen and ascended to Heaven. (Insert your communion statement here.)
How can I get connected?
There are many ways to connect with us: become a member, join a small group, or get involved in a ministry where you can serve others with your particular gifts, talents and experiences. Stop at the Welcome Table on Sunday morning to express your desire, and we’ll put you in touch with the right person.
What can you do today to stay connected? Like our Facebook page or sign-up for our weekly newsletter. You’ll know what we’re up to during the week.
Find us in the community: We participate in Whitmore Lake area events, which aren’t church services. When you find us having fun around town, you are welcome to participate.
Join us for other church events. There are times during the year when we take some time to hang-out together and simply build friendships. Join us for pot-lucks, splashing on the lake, pond hockey, Fourth-of-July festivities, and other seasonal fun.
Where do I park?
Our main parking area can be accessed from either Burrill Dr. or Cottage Dr. off of M-55. The main entrance is located under the portico on the north side of the building. The washrooms are located immediately inside the main entrance. Our worship space will be in front of you, through our fellowship area, and down the hallway.
If you need to drop off someone from your household at the door, please feel free to do so.
